Student Building Supervisor

The Student Building Supervisor serves as a building management representative for any meetings, conferences, or events that may be held within the Reitz Union. Located within Student Engagement, this position serves the Reitz Union and the UF community by providing spaces, programs, and services that enrich the campus life experience.
 

Area Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for reviewing and interpreting all Event Management Systems (EMS) documents ensuring that all equipment and set-ups are correct before each meeting or event
  • Acts as a building management representative for all meetings, conferences, and events such as banquets, films, or dances
  • Communicate with sponsor’s event coordinator to ensure all arrangements are satisfactory and resolve any problems as needed
  • Secure facility and access areas during frequent building walk-through and rounds
  • Advise operations staff and other supervisory personnel of situations that may affect operating policies and procedures and completing appropriate documentation
  • Provides customer service support by responding via a two-way radio for assistance and/or addressing concerns directing in-house service requests to appropriate unit
  • Maintain knowledge and awareness of facility policies and procedures related to staff, safety, or security systems and processes
  • Ensure other area student staff is active and accomplishing tasks as necessary
  • Assists with staff coverage for the Information Desks throughout the facility
  • Attends regularly scheduled training and scheduled meetings
  • Completes all training requirements upon being hired in a timely fashion
  • Ability to commit to working 10 or more hours per week
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, dependability, timeliness, and make decisions in stressful situations
  • Possess the ability to work shifts during the early mornings, evenings and weekends
  • Demonstrate ability to supervise peers
  • Demonstrate previous experience with customer service
  • Proficient with verbal and written communication
  • General knowledge of the Reitz Union and the University of Florida
  • CPR and First Aid Certified, or willing to obtain

 

Student Engagement Staff Member Responsibilities

  • Be a current University of Florida full-time student in good standing with at least a 2.0+ GPA
  • Respond to and assist with emergency situations and building evacuations per department procedures or as instructed by building management staff.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a high level of professionalism
  • Demonstrate a desire and willingness to learn in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
  • Establish an exemplary work ethic by being proactive, self-motivated, and dependable
  • Participate in all scheduled meetings, trainings, and evaluations
  • Possess the ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays and academic breaks, as needed
  • Act as an ambassador for all Student Engagement areas as well as the University of Florida, providing accurate information and campus resources
