The Department of Student Engagement employs over 80 student team members in a variety of roles that provide valuable hands-on experience, skill development, and a chance to contribute meaningfully to the UF community.

Bike Repair Desk Assistants work at our SG Bike Repair Shop, located the ground level of the Reitz Union, across from Subway. 

Working as a Bike Repair Desk Assistant, you’ll:

  • Operate the front counter area and serve as a cashier on the point-of-sale register.
  • Close the Bike Repair Shop and reconcile daily reports.
  • Maintain, organize, and inventory all equipment and workspaces within Bike Repair. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Bike Repair Mechanics work at our SG Bike Repair Shop, located the ground level of the Reitz Union, across from Subway. In this role, you must have an understanding of bike issues and how to properly fix those issues.

We have Front Desk Assistant positions in several areas of Student Engagement. Those include the SG suite, the Institutes, and Bike Repair Shop. This is a customer service facing role where you will talk with students and staff who come up to the front desk, answer phone calls, and assist with other administrative duties as needed.

GatorNights staff help with the execution of each event hosted by GatorNights. These events can happen during the day or early/late evenings.

Student Engagement hires Graduate Assistants to help each of our office areas….

Graphic Designers are hired in the SG Graphics & Copy Center, located on the second level of the Reitz Union, in the Student Engagement Portal. In this role, students provide graphic design assistance to student organizations which can include, but not limited to, branding assistance, social media graphics, t-shirt design, banners, and flyers.

As an integral part of the educational mission of the University of Florida, The Department of Student Engagement’s Office of Community & Belonging impacts the student experience by providing a foundation of engagement opportunities that enhance campus life. The Office of Community & Belonging Permit Manager aids this by serving as initial contact for Event Permits on behalf of registered student organizations.

Print Lab Attendants work in the SG Print Lab, located on the lower level of the Reitz Union. In this role, you’ll provide support to customers in the SG Print Lab which includes technical support and overall lab management.

SG Finance Assistants process reimbursements for SG funded purchases, answer phones and file and pickup/distribute packages.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Record Minutes: Record accurate minutes for all full Student Senate meetings.
Maintain Records: Perform official record-keeping as required by Senate rules and procedures.
Clerical Duties: Complete additional administrative and clerical tasks assigned by Student Government Advising and Operations.
Meeting Preparation & Operations: Attend scheduled sessions, prepare legislative packets, and manage documentation (similar operational duties include roster and voting record upkeep).

Student Engagement Ambassadors serve as the ambassador organization for the area of Student Engagement. With the goal of helping students find their place on UF’s campus and supporting the mission of Student Engagement, the SEA team provides opportunities and services that support students in the journey to get connected, provide event management for various signature event programs and campus traditions and promote experiential learning and campus involvement opportunities.

As a SE Ambassador, you’ll:

  • Conduct Individual Involvement Consultations and Group Involvement Consultations
  • Work at the Student Engagement Front Desk – helping open or close the Student Engagement Portal, answering phone calls, emails, and students who approach the front desk, assist students trying to access their org materials, etc.
  • Provide Constitution Reviews for Student Organizations
  • Presentations and Tabling Opportunities 
  • Other duties as assigned
